Whipple’s 3.0L twin-screw supercharger for LS engines offers higher boost and lower air inlet temperatures compared to its 2.9L predecessor. The first one on our dyno hit 1,206 hp and made more than 1,000 lb-ft of torque from 3,400 to 6,100 rpm. See that 427 cubic inch beast perform in this ad's video.
Others may try mounting one of these superchargers on a stock block designed for half the power we are making. Good luck! Our build recipe has been beefed up by upgrading the block to a Dart SHP Pro LS Next block. It has higher nickel content and 30% more tensile strength than the Dart SHP block that is standard with the 2.9L build. The rotating assembly consists of a Callies Compstar center-counterweighted crank, Callies Compstar Extreme I-beam rods and Diamond Race Series pistons. Bottom Line - this is a short block that will last!
This is a build intended for Pro-Touring level street cruising. As such, it has a hydraulic roller cam and is set up for pump gas. Want to run corn? No problem. Larger injectors and a different tune will get you there while pushing the horsepower even higher.
We believe that All Pros are the best cast heads on the market today. We machine raw castings on our 5-axis CNC to our own proprietary design for maximum performance. The hydraulic roller valve train is stabilized and strengthened by the Comp Cams BSR shaft rocker system.
The serpentine system is a critical performance part in a belt driven supercharged engine. This one is up to the task! It also boasts features like a 225 amp alternator and the option to mate with a HydraTech boost system for better braking. It is available in black, polished or diamond-cut.
This Plug-n-Play engine package comes standard with the Holley Terminator X Max engine management system. It features both transmission control and drive-by-wire capability. This self-learning system gets a head start by coming with the tune installed from your dyno session. No chassis dyno needed post-install. To solve all your vehicle instrumentation issues, you can also pair the Terminator X-Max up with a Holley Digital Dash.
OPTIONS
Aluminum Block: Iron is stronger, but heavier and less heat conductive than aluminum. Both the available Dart and RHS aluminum blocks have more than adequate strength for this application. The aluminum block is 100 lbs lighter and is far better at heat removal. The weight reduction can significantly improve handling and braking in applications such as road racing and autocross. The heat removal aspect is a bigger deal than you might think. We often see Pro-Touring cars with inadequate air flow for cooling high horsepower engines. A heat-shedding aluminum block can help reduce the load on the cooling system. The only downside of an aluminum block here is the higher cost.
Performance: If your're looking for more than transportation, but are planning to hit the track there are some upgrades to consider. For example, you might want to upgrade the crank and rods a notch to Callies Apex crank and Ultra rods.
Finish: The supercharger, serpentine and valve covers come standard in black. All can be ordered polished. Have some other idea - gold dipped, custom paint, rose gold? Let us know. We done all these! Custom engraved valve covers? Sure, why not?
Oiling: This engine comes standard with a GM oil pan. A Holley retrofit oil pan is ideal for many restomods. Neither may be what you need. We will work with you to select the oil pan right for your vehicle so it leaves our shop drop-in ready for you. A serious upgrade would be to switch from wet to a dry sump oiling system. The Dailey dry sump sytems we use bring a host of benefits as outlined in the blog on our website.
Transmission: The power of an engine like this puts a transmission to the test. Unfortunately, many will come up short. For that reason, we have worked with top transmission suppliers (Hughes Performance for automatics and Tremec for manuals) so that we can offer pairings that work. We designed this engine to be a cruiser, and for us that points to over-drive transmissions like our highly-modified Hughes 4L80e or Tremec T-56 six-speed. If you can keep your right foot in check and don’t go crazy on the gear ratio in the rear end, you can pass everything on the road including the gas stations.
Engine Management: The optional FuelTech systems provide a more robust wiring harness and feature rich system. The FuelTech ECU doubles as a display unit unlike the Holley system where the ECU and DIgital Dash are independent units.
Marine Applications: Marine applications should be upgraded from the Holley Terminator X-Max to a FuelTech engine management system as they are IP-67 (water resistant) and the Holley units are now.

NOTES
1. These engines are not pollution compliant and are intended for transportation use only in pre-pollution controlled vehicles.
2. All BRE engines are individually dyno tested and tuned. Customers will be supplied with video of their engine's dyno along with the dyno and build sheets.
3. Price indicated is for the standard recipe build - black finish, serpentine system with choice of power steering pumps, Holley Terminator X-Max with tune.
4. Dyno results on the same engine are influenced by atmospheric conditions. The same engine can easily test +/- 2% different on horsepower depending upon ambient conditions. The engine you receive will have completed its dyno session at no less than 98% of rated horsepower with the tune we provide.
5. The dyno sheets are from the engine shown in the video which was equipped with a Dailey 5-Stage dry sump. This oiling system typically yields an additional 25 horsepower over a wet sump due to reduced parasitic losses.
6. Emtron engine management systems are also available but are recommended only for special applications due to the cost and limited number of tuners familiar with them.
