Here we have eight Formula 3 cars used by the Jim Russell Racing School and Simraceway located at Sonoma Raceway, CA. The chassis were built by Lola specifically for Jim Russell but are based on the B07/20 Formula 3 chassis. For power, they are fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-liter Mitsubishi 4G63 (the same engine found in the EVO IX) with some tweaking to make 220hp on low boost up to over 300hp on high boost. They weigh 1170 lbs without the driver.
The chassis were designed to fit taller/larger drivers so they are perfect for anyone looking to have the formula car experience that may not be able to fit in some of the modern chassis. The adjustability in power also makes them a great fit for beginners and experts alike. Although they do not qualify for any current series, this fleet would be the opportunity to start your own or enjoy them during track rentals with friends.
The eight cars are in various states: 3 are fully operational runners, 3 need some minor mechanical work to get back on the track, and 2 require major mechanical work or considered parts cars. The lot also comes with a slew of parts, spares, and tools to keep the fleet maintained and operational. A comprehensive list of parts inventoried is included below as well as accompanied photos.
