This is the Crown Jewel, the Hope Diamond of individual runner, 8-stack electronic fuel injection systems for Big Block Chevy. And today it is RARE. There are other I-R/8-Stack setups out there--some cheap, some not so cheap, but none carry the time-honored, legendary surname of the inventor of fuel injection, Stuart Hilborn. Holley Performance acquired the Hilborn Fuel Injection, based in Aliso Viejo, CA, during 2019. They moved existing inventory and tooling along with several employees to Holley's headquarters in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Following an aggressive marketing campaign, the sales of which did not satisfy Holley's private-equity owners, the Hilborn brand was discontinued. The manifolds and valley cover are no longer available ANYWHERE. However, throttle shafts, intake stacks, butterflies and linkage components are still available. These manifolds are designed, cast and machined to extremely close tolerances specifically for several current brands of electronically-controlled fuel injectors. These ARE NOT re-machined mechanical fuel injection manifolds.
Aside from the iconic, head-turning look the 8-stack Hilborn I-R EFI system gives your BBC, the throttle response will raise the hair on the back of your neck. Blip the throttle on this setup and--exaggerating a bit--about the only difference between it and a Top Fuel motor will be the missing scent of nitro.
I did not put my roadster on a dyno before or after I installed the Hilborn setup, so I do not have any numbers to verify the increase in torque or horsepower it made. Holley's marketing hype suggested "at a minimum you'll see an increase of 30-40 hp and 45-55 ft/lbs. of torque, and a substantial increase in engine acceleration rate."
