1972 Porsche 356 Speedster Kit, maybe originally was an CMC build, previous owner designed a racing suspension and roll cage on CAD, then built 2x4 and 2x2 steel frame to beef up the VW chassis, has 3 bar roll cage encircling the cockpit, rack and pinion steering up front, It has racing tubular trailing arms and aluminum swingarms, four Tatum aluminum wheel hubs. I converted the Porsche 930 stub axles back to VW axles to match the Freeway Flyer tranny. Rear hubs have Tatum disc brakes, no brakes on front.
Recently mounted the new freeway flyer tranny and rebuilt 1600 engine for shipping to Florida, had to replace the custom rear tranny mount with a stock one, that was a chore. Engine tins, trim pieces, new gas tank, emblems, lot of other parts to complete included. I only bolted engine/tranny in to haul it to Florida, IT IS NOT RUNNING.
No soft top or frame, I think I have 3 guages, two new chrome door handles, new chrome front hood trim, used engine tins that need painted, new gas tank I was working on to make it clear the steering rack, I lowered the fill spout. I am also working on brackets for the door hinges, it didn't have bracket plates for the door side. Engine accessories all need installed including the clutch (included). Right rear floor pan needs replaced, new full pan included. Wiring harness is intact in engine compartment but missing up front, a good used harness is included.
(The previous owner's brother has the high HP Gene Berg engine and racing tranny in Florida that was going to be installed)
Parts needed to complete: short exhaust pipes that connect to header muffler, front transmission mount, brake lines and master cylinder, fuel lines, windshield, spark plugs & wires.
If it was running it would be $25k+ I have too many vehicles and wife is retiring Navy next spring, engine/tranny is bolted together to make transport easier, if I don't get it sold it will come to Florida with me next spring if not before.
Bottom dollar? I have $15,500 in it with engine and tranny, I'm retired Air Force & not hurting for $ so it will go to Florida in storage, not a big deal. Located in Portsmouth Virgina, east coast delivery possible. I'm going to have to live forever to complete all the projects I have, praise Jesus for life everlasting.
I wonder if a Boxster driveline would fit? 3800 fwd supercharged V6? What's the best air cooled engine, 914 2.0? Or 2.7/3.2 flat Six?
