I was wondering the same thing Rigs. Its hard to say with John being the liar he is. Mabe he just got cold feet. Or was expecting more. The son was the one that said something about the motor. He told the driver exactly ("Man Im gonna be up front with you, we found water in the oil yesterday, no use trying to hide it") Then as stated, said that his brother must of took it out and blew it up, then parked it. But if he thought my car was misrepresented, he should of just said that. He was right on one thing, I was pissed. Not because we didnt trade. If the motor was fried then it was a blessing. The thing Im pissed about is $350, and the lies.I do a lot of trades and sells. Some times I come out, some times I get my ass burnt. But Im a big boy I just suck it up and go on. One thing I wont do is lie about a vehicle and try to burn somebody. Especialy on a trade where Im sending my car to them first without having ever seen their car in person. That would be ediotic. So what ever happened John is a liar at best.
Dirk, I was pretty much raised around bodyshops. My dad was a body man by trade and owned several garages. I could paint the car myself, but to be honest I hate the work. Im taking it to the most reputable place in town. Someone real good at blending can make it look like it never happen.

Happy Thankgiving To All and Yours.

John :Re Read this email
If your gonna lie, try not to do it all in one paragraph.

Email :

I am sorry for the way things turned out, I had a problem with my car and I did not want to send it to you like that. But, the T bird was rough, it needed a paint job the interior was rough and faded, the head liner was falling out, the
door hinges sagged and the plastic windows did not line up, the door sills had all the paint worn off, the chrome needed re done or polished, the body was very wavy, again I apologise but My t bucket is like new and needed nothing but a windshield,. thanks john

John after reading this email again, It really doesnt make since.

1st : I am sorry for the way things turned out, I had a problem with my car and I did not want to send it to you like that.

Last line:My T bucket is like new and needed nothing but a windshield.

My question is: If your T bucket is like new and needs nothing but a winshield, as stated in your last line, what was the problem with the car that you stated in the 1st line? The reason you didnt do the trade and sent my car back.

Which also reminds me of our original agreement exactly:

(1) You were to pay to have the T bird sent to you. Driver collects $350 on delivery of T Bird.
(2) I pay to have to T Bucket delivered. Driver collects $350 upon delivery of T Bucket.
So when you paid the driver $350, it was for having the T Bird delivered, not to have the T Bird sent back. In your reply you stated you paid to have the Tbird sent back. I paid to have the Bird brought back. But because of the way you worded it, I think you know the right thing to do is pay both.
You still have your car listed,on RJ and Hoobly, and there is no mention of motor problems. So if there is no problems, then you just got cold feet on the trade. And it wasnt because of my car.The car is exactly as advertised and looks as good in person as the pics on the net.
So Im asking once again for you to do the right thing and pay me my $350.00, before this goes any further.I think your emails are proof that you lied. Therefore I have a case legally. I will do some research with local law enforcement, and internet crimes division, to see if I can get something done about this.
Again its your call.

I search the net for this competion and couldnt find anything about it.Talk with him at least half a dozen times on the phone and emailed at least ten times.I finally decide to trade but then everytime I get the shipping company scheduled to pick it up John cant be reached. Then finally we get something together and I ship my car to him on 11/24/09. The driver lives in my area and we have become pretty good friends.(He looks out for me on trades) When he gets there with my car,and before unloading it, he ask John if he could inspect the T Bucket. John then procedes to tell him that there was water in the oil and he just discovered it the day before 11/23/09.He didnt bother to call or email me about it.My car didnt leave until 11/24/09 6:00 AM. Maybe John was hoping for a drop off and pick up and go.Lucky for me, it didnt work that way
Howerver it cost me $350.00 to send my car from Milton WV to Sandusky Ohio. And then another $350.00 to get it back.John I really hope you respond to this. I want my $700.00 back .I really think you have lied the whole time. I dont know what your trying to pull, but I will not leave this one alone. I know exactly where you live, and its not that far from me. And for $700.00 I will make the drive.Get the point!!!!
I think this is the competition John Miller is referring to:

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/29/k...t-beautiful-r/

and here:

http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?..._Roadster_Show

Its held in CA - and I believe Summitt racing may be a current sponsor or could have some representation at the show. There are also pictures of the Woodward dream cruise with T's pictured on the Summitt Site.

Havent found this car yet, but am pretty sure as to what John 1923T was referring to. So it doesnt appear he is lying about the competition, havent found pics of the winners yet.

However, its likely that this T has some show recognition and builder provenance- so its probably not an insignificant car.

I belive that the shows you linked have cars that cost in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to build. They spend 15k getting it cleaned up for the show. I highly doubt with it for sale at that price that it garnered any awards.

Wasnt sure-

The Grand Nat'l Roadsters show goes back before the 50's - was thinking there might have been a chance that this was a glass late 60's build before we got into ridiculous money and Riddler cars.

I agree on cost- if its glass then the build period would be a small window- Id say late 60's to mid seventies.

possibility?

Gonna make me keep looking arentcha

This is just my opinion and thats all. not trying to put you down or anything so please dotn take it like that.

My uncle and I built hot rods just like those for major shows and the cost to build htem really aint that high. If you look on my racespace you will see an orange 52 Bel Aire that we started to build and he had to finish in part to myself joining the military. The total on that car was only $60,000. Now if you were to subtract the cost of labor from it it would be around the $30,000- $40,000 range. We also built a 50 Mercury that was supposed to go into the Autorama nation wide for less than that. to get into teh Autorama your car has to be accepted into the show the year before. Also trust me on this one just because a car looks nice as those doesnt mean that the quality is there. My uncle and I have seen top quality cars in big shows still have blemishes in the paint and still win the show.
