WELDED CRANKSHAFT
Would you guys be afraid to use a crank that had been welded up and offset ground? I am not talking about a race car..just a street car that will never see the dragstrip. The reason I ask is I have a GM steel BBC crank that was offset ground to build a 496. I got the engine free from my Uncle. It was in a dirt track car many years ago. It is std std but has one journal that is chewed up and will need repaired..Just trying to decide whether to keep it or not. The block is a 4 bolt 454 block. I was considering having the thing fixed and putting a BB together for my Chevelle I'm building right now . I have enough parts sitting around to do it cheap if the crank is usable. I know nobody welds stroker cranks anymore since there are cheap aftermarket cranks but this one was free and I already have it..Only other bad thing is it's cross drilled, but like I said the car will never be raced I just want a BB in it because it looks cool.
