hello.i work at a ford dealership,so maybe i can help....first,find out why he took the cam out...look at the cam and the bearing saddles in the head. if they are scored the head is junk and maybe the rest of the engine...second ,if he took the cam out without installing a wedge in the timing chain the tensioner extended to the max and won't go back until you remove the front cover. if it is out of time (i'm sure it is),your going to have to remove the intake,both valve covers and the front cover. then time it with the crank and cam and put the tensioner back on.(may not have to remove the intake unless you are pulling the head). if you need a pic of the timing marks i can fax you one.
