The 28.5 tire definately changes the calculations, i have in the past ran a 10.5X28" MT with a 4.86 gear in a 66 nova with a 406 and 377. Ran as fast as
[email protected], but the RPM was in the upper 7,000's. The car weighed 3050lbs. Always with a 5500 converter, that car had a turbo 400 with t'brake. Funny thing was i started out with a 355" and 5.93 gears and had a 9200 chip in it. It ran a 10.79@126MPH and i put about 200 passes on the motor before a rod bolt backed off (alum rods) and it looked like a gernade exploded in the pan, i did save the heads, cam and the intake, nothing else. We found rod bolts and caps, pieces of pistons and 6 qts of oil on the track, but it was fun before it all ended. That was over 20 yrs. ago.
