The best value for the dollar is the Dart Pro 1 215 or 230 heads. 230's flow more, but may have more shrouding with the 2.08 vs the 2.05 valve on a 383. Under $1000 bare, with minor casting cleanup, port square and match, and a good competition valve job you will be on the way. Unless you already have stud rockers, use a sportsman series shaft rocker set, Jesel or T&D. Ferrea stainless valves hold up great and are a good choice and price, I've never had one fail.
