PG Hitting Rev Limiter L to H shift

My FED started to stumble for a split second when I would shift from low to high. We think it may have been hitting the rev limiter but never saw the tack jump up (shift at 5600 to 5800, rev limiter at 6200) at the shift. I swapped out trans and sure enought the problem went away.

Do you guys thing it is in the trans, or the torque converter? Anyone else ever have this problem?

HMMMMM?

Need more info. Like how fresh is the trans/convertor that you took out? So what you are saying is it slipped going into high gear? Sounds like the band is out of adjustment. Do you have a T-Brake?

just to be clear, are you saying that you are shifting at 5800, and you have a 6200 high side chip installed?

The trans has around 500 runs on it. I adjust the band every other weekend of racing or so. I don't believe it is because the band is out of adjustment.

I usually shift at 5800. Yes the rev limiter has a 6200 pill in it. I shifted at 5600 a few times and 5200 a few times and it still acts like it is hitting the rev limiter for a split second.

i would try a bigger high side chip, i have seen chips say they are one thing and be another, next you are shifting fairly close to your high side chip, unless you are useing an automatic shifter, it could easely be crawling past your intended shift rpm. jmo

If you would of moved that highside up the issue would be gone I am thinking.
Just because you tell it to shift @ 5800 doesnt mean it is.

Sounds like the high gear clutch pack might be slipping?

it is not the high side chip, pulled it for a run and it still did it. It is something in the tranny. The high side chip is fine with my backup trans.

hey rob, I think I have raced you at Pacific before. Have you ran the friday night Goodguys the last four or five years?

If you are using the same converter when you put in the back up trans and have pulled the high side chip, then you have narrowed it down to the trans. I have seen guys whose transmissions rev up on the shift. We have found that the valve body is warped or worn. It does sound like it is time to freshen that bad boy up.
