SBC Engine Block Identification

The numbers T0520HV are stamped on the tab in front of the right side head. I am of the understanding that it is a 1965 327/350 4 bolt. When I pulled the pan, it was a 2 bolt. Any help?

What is the 7 digit numeric code on the back of the block? If you have a 65 327 it should start with 37, 38 or 39.

According to my books, it decodes as a 1965 Corvette Special high performance, transistorized ignition. It should be a 4 bolt but maybe somebody doctored the numbers at some time.

The casting number decodes:

Years Casting CID Low Power High Power Main Caps Comments
1969 3956618 302 290 290 4 Z28
1969 3956618 327 235 235 2 fullsize
1969 3956618 350 250 350 2/4 cars

I am having a hard time understanding why the numbers on the block up front tell me one thing and the numbers at the back of the block are telling me something else.

On the front, you have the possiblity of a restamp. You can't mess with the casting numbers.

So if the casting number tells me that it could be any one of different c.i., How would I determine of it is a 327-350 ?

1.Get the number off the crankshaft and find the code.
2.Measure the stroke
