glide don't fit
 

So my T-350 broke the sprag and frackurd the case,boom let's go with the glide.

I get my glide and go to put it in thinking(this is my frist mistake)that it would go right in.

frist the lower shild is in the way,so I take that off (this took 20 min).

so i'm puttin it back in and now the headre is hitten the gear selector.

my car is a 84 G-body monte carlo 350 sbc hooker super comp headers.

it looks like i'm going to cut the collecter and reweld them

my ? is what headers or others running on these G-body's with power glides

Better make sure the glide has a turbo spline OR the convertor has a glide spline. I think you're gonna have a problem there also.

Have you changed out the shifting arm, so that it will work with the aftermarket shifters? If you have converted it over to a full manual valve body or trans brake, you can also get rid of the detent lever which takes up some room. My cars have custom headers, so I can't help you on your question, but with the after market shift lever and removal of the detent arm it should take up about the same space as the TH350.

Thats odd, I cant see it being that different that you'd have to make alterations to your headers, they must have pretty close to your Th350 as well, can you heat them up and bend them out the way?

I hate you have to cut the collectors, that sux.

Whatever you have to do to make it fit or work, do it.
You'll be pleased with the powerglide and never go back to a 3 speed again, that I can assure you.
They are faster, more consistent, more reliable and easier on parts than any 3 speed ever thought about being.

I see you purchased a T/S unit, good move they build some good ones and they stand behind them all the way.

On your powerglide you can turn the shifter arm up or down to fit around your header. Very easy.

I THINK THE SHIFTER BE WORKING BACKWARDS IF YOU FLIP THE SHIFTER ARM UP....

nodout I will do what ever it takes to install this transmission

took my headers off for now and am building a new trans crossmember just because the stock is so big,I'm using a pice of my old rollbar and some plate

then I will figure out how to shift it and if I will have to cut my headers.

Most shifters you can go in from either end.

You do understand that you can bend that shifter arm inward a little to help clear the header? You didn't say how much the collector needs to be moved but you can move that arm some without hurting anything.
