Engine Damper - Whose to use?
I've got a SBC going together and will be needing a new damper. Their are lots of choices - TCI, ATI, Fluiddamper, Professional Products, etc, etc, etc. TCI uses little balls, Fluiddamper is a silicone type fluid, ATI is elastomier. Seems to lots of different technologies in addition to brands.
Who is using what and why? |
I run ATI, Fluidampner would be my second choice, just bought a engine with a Professional Products and wasn't impressed. Had a rattler and I was always hearing engine noises that weren't there.
|
Fluidamper or ATI I've had both, I like the fluidamper better but can't really say why...just a personal preference, but I think most say the ATI is the best on the market.
|
ATI would be my choice.

Anybody ever use a Romac? I would like to use an Innovators West just can't swing that right now.

ATI is probably the best, Try to balance a crank with a fluid dampner thats why I won'y use one!!
We use a lot of the GM elastermer balancers with no problems. |
All of mine had ATI without any failures. Thats just my personal preference though.
