Connecting rod ?
Who makes the best steel rod for a blown gas application making approx. 1500 hp. I'm planning a tall deck 540 w/a 4.25 stroke,6.660 rod,& a 1.395 ch piston.Thanks 8)

Oliver or Carillo.

Just checked both their websites & neither of them stock a 6.660.

Anyone had any experience with the Lunati Pro Mod rods or the Manley Pro Series "I" beam rods?
|
I wouldnt buy oliver seems they like to break a lot.. Ive got pics to prove it !
Carrillo is a good rod, just make sure you get the good rod bolts and check the HP rating. |
I think an aluminum rod would be best. They take the shock better.

OLIVER!
They dont mind Charing for there OVER PRICED SHIT! I have a Nice set of Billet 6.635 BBC Rods,1830.00 with the Bolt Upgrade.I sell them CHEAP! But,heres the Deal,6 are Useable and 2 are JUNK!After 2 Passes.1 of them let go of the Bearing for an Unknown Reason? They will Sell me two more though??? Later G :( |
I use the Lunati Pro Mod Billet steel rods in a SBC with over 600hp of nos, three seasons no problems. I have never used their rods in a BBC, I always use GRP alum for BBC.

Oliver makes a 6.635 rod that will easily handle that power level,we have several engines making over 2000 with that rod and no problems in 4 years . you will need to deck your block to get the correct deck height. we also use Crower billet rod for that application. H beam rods are not as good because the beam thickness doesn't give you enough side to side strength.Bill Bill
