splayed caps ?
what is splayed caps ?
|
"Splayed" refers to a term that is used to describe the outter bolts on some 4 bolt main caps, the bolts will be at an angle or canted instead of straight.
Most oem 4 bolt blocks are not splayed but rather straight. Most after-market billet main caps that you have installed on a 2 bolt block will be splayed. suppose to have better retaining strenght than a straight bolt. Here's a link to a visual of one installed on a block http://images.fourwheeler.com/techar...nter_mains.jpg >< Cp |
We machine alot of blocks for splayed caps both 4 bolt and 2 bolt blocks as it ties the the main webbing and the pan rails together making a good foundation for a high horse power apllication.
Here is apic of one we machined for another shop with a front billtet cap and a strap on the rear main cap. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...YEDCAPS020.jpg |
