fuel pressure
 

i have a aeromotive pump on a 632 chevy the pre set pressure is 9 i just ran the pump and looked at gauge. is this what i should keep it at?

engine size is not a factor in regulated pressure, too much pressure will overpower the needle and seats in the carb and cause flooding.....
9 seems a little high to me, I like about 7, but if the regularor is a return style it may be ok.

i 2nd what Ed said......also where are you getting your reading ?

it has a regulator i'm taking it off the port for the gauge and i have it mounted right at the carb. it has a set screw for adjusting do you think i should drop it to 7? it does have a return line also

I agree 7 pounds is the normal, i have got lucky and had a couple carbs running close to 9 psi without the needle floating....if he is not having any issues at 9 psi then run it there...but at least try dropping to 7 psi and see if it runs better

I would drop to 7lbs....reason being even though you see no effect on the needle seats now doesn't mean it cannot happen at any given moment...9 lbs will keep constant extra pressure on those needle seats..if it blows by the seat completey you will have a massive fuel over flow into the bowls ETC...or it could cause a fuel pressure Creep...the high pressure will keep seeping by the needle seat and cause you to load up,foul plugs etc...

go to 7lbs and do not worry about it..
