Seriously? I gotta check the weather.

We have our annual meetimg this weekend every year at the Holiday Inn near the airport. Several years ago we couldnt even go near the hotel because the last half of the parking lot was down hill and was all covered in ice and snow.

Im riding with someone and were going to stop by Summit on the way up to buy a new helment and racing suit. Maybe I'll wear it when we get close to Nville.
Ill be one mad sob if I cant get back by 3 on Sunday to watch the Falcons. I'm their good luck charm this year!! Lol

outlaw256 01-16-2013 06:42 AM

zipper06 01-16-2013 07:02 AM

Been raining here 5 of the last 6 days, temps high in the 30's low around 30* ice every where schools closed trees down in Monroe, roads closed due to ice.
This is so not right, last yr. i cut my grass in Jan. O'h well i'll get over it my frig is full of food, including Venison and my Central heat is working fine so i don't have to go anywhere.

Zip.

Swiley383 01-16-2013 10:24 AM

The ice storm did not amount to much. Were I live about 40 miles west of Nashville got about a 1/4 in of ice on the trees and ground but the roads never froze over. This morning coming to work I had no trouble the closer I got to Nashville the less there was.

Yea, I know. I've checked out everybody's home town on here and I go close to or have been close to several of you guys during my travels, but I'm always driving late at night and in a hurry to get there and back. I gotta slow down and smell the roses one day.

TheYellaBrick 01-23-2013 06:27 PM

Heading into our 6th week of single digits and teens. So cold my fluorescent tubes won't fire !

Harbone 01-24-2013 04:38 AM

Been pretty cold here since Monday. It was 8 degrees this morning but the damn wind chills are below zero! I dont mind cold but throw in that wind and it starts to hurt after being outside for just a few minutes! :x

Scooterz 01-24-2013 09:40 AM

Dang boys... that IS cold. Makes it hard to work on stuff when it is that cold. I guess you just hunker down & plug in the block heaters & keep the batteries charged. Drain the tanks in the RV. etc... hang in there.

I know! Beginning to wonder if this winter is going to end up like last winter, minumal snow just a few really cold days and no bad weather. Not going to complain but we really do need some sort of precipitation to try and pull out of the drought. Last I checked we were something like 13.5" of precipitation down from the normal.

TheYellaBrick 01-24-2013 08:14 PM

Freezing rain today and the rest of the week. Been outa work for almost 6weeks cuz of the frigid temps and now precip. At least it's UP into the high 20's so I got 4 hours in out in the shop today ! I'm MUCH happier out there ! :D :D

BALMY T shirt and scooter weather !
:D :D :D :D

TheRabbit 02-02-2013 04:26 AM

Hope you get caught up DD.

It hasn't been cold here until this morning. It's 28, but it'll warm up in a little while. However, the wind shut down several of our jobs last week. Hard for us to work with wind over 20mph. It's actually safer to work work with a steady 20-25 mph wind than it is when it gust from 5- 20mph.

When it comes to wind every crane has different specs, OSHA has it's own and many plants/ job sites have another, but the 20-25 is about the cut off point for all. The operator has the ultimate decision and can shut down at any time he feels the lift is not safe.

TheYellaBrick 02-03-2013 10:31 AM

Back in the mid late 70's i worked as a journeyman sign hanger along the Columbia Gorge in Wash/Ore. The wind blows 395 days of the year. I serviced and installed a ton of electric signs up to 120 feet height to the access door to the interior of the sign. I'd go up in a basket with remote controls in all kinds of weather and wind conditions. It was like being on the tip of a long fly fishing rod ! It got to the point where my nerves just weren't nervy enough and had to get outa the biz.
