bbf in 88 camaro

Would like to drop a Bbf into a 88 camaro. Has anyone tried this. What are the big issues that I'm going to run into. Thanks for your info.

bigkahun74 06-26-2010 10:09 PM

Glad to see you douches are good for something. I ask for a little advice and I get a picture of one of your heroes. Real cool! thanks for nothing.

Tod74 06-26-2010 11:34 PM

Sorry.

I think the reason you got no useful info is because nobody HAD any useful info to give.... If I knew what you needed to do I would tell you,as would anyone else. that combo isnt something you here of every day.

I don't know of anyone who has done a Ford Engine into a Chevrolet car but I've seen many Fords with Chevrolet engines...I would think that HEADERS would be a problem... I think you will either have to get some custom headers built or make your own. Before I built the engine I would take the doghouse off and dummy a junk engine in there and see what had to be done to mount it in there.

The picture thing was just a joke because the majority of the regulars here probably run Chevrolet stuff.

fla1976 06-27-2010 06:25 AM

Here is the only info I could find.
Sounds like a major headache.

YOU GUYS KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN 8) SO HERE GOES 8)

WHY NOT --THEY PUT CHEVIES IN EVERYTHING ELSE--SOOOOOOOOOOO --A FORD CAN GO OTHER PLACES AS WELL
ANY SWAP INTO ANY OTHER BRAND DOES TAKE ALOT OF FIGURING/PLANNING/CUTTING/FABBING/ AND ALOT OF HARD WORK

BEFORE YOU GUYS FORGET IT IN THOSE CHEBBYBRAINS OF YOURS-------
IT IS WHAT HOT RODDING WAS ALL ABOUT[AND I HOPE STAYS]
LIVELY

PS--bigkahun74--DON'T BE A SMARTALLECK-PLEASE--THE CHEVYBRAIN CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH AT A TIME

TheYellaBrick 06-27-2010 05:39 PM

How 'bout a BIG BLOCK Mopar in that Camaro ??!!! Now we're talkin' Gang !!
Hot rodding is ALL about INGENUITY , or is that ENGINEuity ......Do what YOU want, not what the 'gang' says. Think outa the box. :D

The name calling was un-called for, but whatever dude, you asked for it IMO.

Cudos Todd, your funny pic was spot on, still lmao!

The name calling might have been uncalled for in your opinion, but you are entitled to that. I was looking for info and that picture was all I got with everyone commenting on the photo. It would have upset you too if it was your first time on the site. I didn't come to start a fight and I apologize if I came off that way, all I was wanting was a little insight.
Thank you to those of you who replied with info it was helpful. The issue with the k member can be solved by getting a AFE k member with Ford motor mounts.

DirkaDirka 06-29-2010 07:38 AM

I didnt go back to read your original post but what size are you thinking about dropping in?? I am dropping in a 460 SCJ block bored out to a 506 in my 93 Mustang. Gotta love them BBFs I tell ya.

Well dude, apologies accepted and if I came off like a Richard Kranium, I apologize for that too.
Theres one thing you'll learn about any gearhead "helping" site.
You gotta come in here with thick skin, dont get you feelings hurt if you dont get help right off the bat, help will come, or maybe it already came, ay any rate, we like to chop it up here just as much as any other site, it wasnt directed at you, it was all in fun, so lighten up alittle and take these guys with a grain of salt.

As far as the "bastard" engine swap goes, a cutting torch, lots of angle iron and a good welder come to mind, no K member required.

Goodluck dude>Cp

Scooterz 06-30-2010 02:29 PM

Well said Charles. I mean, he did ask about putting a BBF in a "88 Camaro".... lighten up dude!!! What did you expect?? You did not like the picture? That's like me being new on a Trekkie forum & asking if anyone is selling Darth-Vader dolls or something!!! LOL!!!

Let me ask you a legitimate question... WHY?? BBF's cost more to build. The 88 Chevy Camaro is nowhere close to accepting that engine. You would have enough work converting it over to a BBC... let alone a BBF!! the cross member/oil pan, possible firewall issues, suspension, trans tunnel, what transmission?? Ford too? The list goes on & so does the cost. In the end, you pay more & to get what gain???? The gain is you spent a lot of money to have a Ford motor in a Camaro. Good Luck.

TheRabbit 06-30-2010 03:36 PM

Im just gonna be honest here. No matter how good of a job you do it's not gonna be worth what a Ford car would be worth with a Ford motor or even a Chevy motor. BBF in a Chevy is just to odd. Not even a die hard Ford guy would want it and NO CHEVY guy would buy it. Maybe, just maybe you could pass it off to a Mopar guy that doesn't know any better. LOL. JUST KIDDING , but it is the truth.

BEAST477 06-30-2010 04:01 PM

Do you already have this BBF, is that why you want to go this route, or do you just want to be different?

maxpower671 07-01-2010 09:20 AM

why?

i can't think of one advantage or reason to do this....
