The wife
Well guys I completely forgot to let you know that the wife is in the hospital due to an infection in her colon or intestines. She has been there since Friday and will be there till at least Weds. She if feeling better and the docs still arent 100% sure what it is. They think it my be viral but it could also be bacterial too. They will be doing a colonoscopy on her tommorrow to see if anything has changed. I forced her to go in on Friday after she was complaining about stomach cramps for a few days and could hardly walk around and move cuz they were so bad. I will keep you guys posted everyday as I get more info.

Hey Dennis ! Thoughts and prayers from us. My Crew chief has Diverticulitis and has pain issues almost constantly. So I know full well the concerns and worries you have. Plus being so far from home you can't 'protect' her and your little one. Hope you have a good support system at home to look after them.
|
I believe if it's viral it will be up to her imune system...antibiotics won't help. I'm no doctor but I have seen almost every episode of " E.R."
Good luck and I hope she makes a speedy recovery. |
hope she feels better i had a bad intestinal bug last week but was only in hospital few hours
|
Dennis,
Hope the wife gets to feeling better soon! |

Good luck and I hope she makes a speedy recovery. Also thanks to everybody for their support. I guess we are lucky enough to have her parents there also to take care of the little one while she is in the hospital. |
Sorry to hear about your wife Dennis, hope she gets well soon.
Godbless, Cp |
Well a little update on the wife situation.............
She had a colonoscopy yesterday (or today for you peeps in the states) and the doctors are saying that it is just inflammed, but she is still in lots of pain and still pukey. The docs have her on steriods right now for it. The docs are trying to get her out of the hospital tommorrow. To me it sounds like there is something else wrong and they arent seeing it. So we shall see what will happen. Oh and they also upped her pain meds to deal with the pain too. |
all the best and our good wishes from Switzerland!
|
Glad to hear it's just inflammed and not more serious.
Hope she feels better soon!! |

Hope she feels better soon!! We are kinda confused due to the fact that she still cant really keep anything down and she is on a liquid diet there in the hospital. She is also puking up a little bit of blood from teh irritation of puking too. So we shall see what happens. Sorry about forgetting that little bit of info. I was talking to her when I wrote that and she must have told me this part after I wrote the other update. |
I think I would try to keep her in the hospital at least until she can keep some food down. If she keeps puking she'll end up dehydrated too.

Best Wishes to You and your Wife Dirka.

Well here is another update on the wifey...........
She is going to be getting out of the hospital either today or tommorrow. The doctors told her that they want her to see an agastroenterologist. They say that whatever is wrong with her they dont think that they can handle where she is at now. Another update on the wife.................... I am still talking to her and they are discharging her form the hospital. The doctor prescribed her ALOT of pain meds and anti-nausea pills. So hopefully she can get to the specialist soon. |

she needs to go to a bigger hospital , ,I also live in a small town and got the run a round for 2 years with the same symptoms..got so bad that I had to retire from the fire dept..finally got in Osners Clinic in new orleans and was diagnosed immediately with crohns disease.. the local doctors around here would have let me die..they never even checked...this is nothing to play with , even if she gets to feeling better , does not mean it went away...please tell her to seek another doctor , NOW,,,Paul

Dirk Diggler,
I will pray for your wife to have favor & the doctors to have revelation to help her... hang in there. Until then keep praying for strength & healing. I am sorry I did not see this thread earlier; I have been away a little. Scoot |
Update??
|
Sorry I havent been on in a couple days. They shut down the internet for 2 days due to the notification of family for the soldier that was killed out here.
Right now she is at home taking the meds and I am trying to get caught up. What I have been told so far is that the meds are and arent doing their job. They prescribed 7.5mg percoset and stomach cramping meds and Phenigran for the nasuea and she is still barely able to eat and she is still having pain so bad she curls up in a ball. She is thinking that she may have to go back into the hospital. The nurses that she had didnt think that she should have been released already. She also told me that they are wanting to do surgury to see what the problem is also but I dont know. |
Wishing you guys all the best. There is nothing more aggravating than not being able to diagnose an illness. My wife is in the medical field so I hear about things like this quite often. I hope something will be done soon to help your wife.
Curtis |
Same here, Curtis. My wife is a phlebotimist at the VA hospital, and she has her OWN medical mysteries to deal with. I can't imagine the emotional stress Dennis is going through right now. We're praying for you both, Dennis.. |
ok Dennis , whats happening with the wife , , did she find a better doc yet ???
|
No she didnt go out and find a better doc. She is being super stubborn and wants to wait till she moves back east.
She did go into Urgent Care earlier this week and get different meds since the ones before werent really doing a good job. She still cant eat a whole lot without having a butt load of pain. So I say right now it is hit or miss. She does realize that she needs to see a specialist but I can prolly tell you that she is nervous as well as scared. I just am hoping that she doesnt wait till it is too late to actually act and go in. |
this is nothing to mess around with , could be a blockage or a number of other things , an ulcer in the tube leading out of the stomach will cause a lot of pain , too. I am no doctor but have had my share of digestive problems and I do hope the best for her , wish you were home to help her....Judy and I will add her to the prayer list Sunday....I wish I could help , but I might as well be as far away as you .... :(
