Stupid possum
 

I left for work this morning in my Aztek, got about 2 miles from home on rt.66. There is a sweeping banked right hand turn. I saw something run out in the road. I started to slow down. A possum stopped right in the middle of the lane looking at me. :shock: I got on the brakes. The roads were wet. The back end came around like I was on ice. I went through a deep ditch sideways (I thought it was going to roll), up the bank on the other side and right up to a bean field. :roll: I didn't slide off the turn, I spun to the inside.
I must of knocked him silly . He was running round in circles in the road. I drove it out and came back home. I don't think it's damaged but there is mud and grass stuck in the tire beads. So I have to get those broke down and cleaned today.

I guess I should've replaced those 1/2 bald rear tires already. :oops:

Yall got possums way up there , ?????? you didn't stop and get him for supper????so you probally killed a good possum for nothing , !!! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I would bet the next time he will be a possum pancake. nice save!!

I was hoping to make it closer to winter before I replaced the back tires.
I ordered 2 new ones today. If I had replaced them sooner, I don't think it would've spun around on me.

As MissDD said, drive through them... Possums aren't endangered by any means.

I didn't and wouldn't swerve for a possum. I was already in a turn when I jabbed the brakes. Not hard enough to lock up the tires under normal conditions. If the rear tires weren't almost to the wear bars, they wouldn't have hydroplaned and come around on me. The nearly new fronts stayed planted.

I planned on running him over. He was in the middle of my lane and I was going to straddle him. I just tried so slow a little to keep him from splattering in my airdam / radiator.

In Mississippi , the cop would have took the possum home and fed his kids :lol:

park your car at Wal mart around here and that tag would be stolen within 5 miniutes :lol:

I almost got a small gator early this morning on the way to work. It was only about three feet long and was about two feet onto the road. Lucky their eyes reflect the light from the headlights. Probably wouldn't hurt the car but they are protected here.

Nice save dude glad you didnt get hurt.

Round here possums are worth 20 points.

First let me say that I am glad you are ok buddy. It is reaction sometimes that can cause these things too. Possums are everywhere here in Oregon... run them over all the time. I can relate to you not wanting mess up the air-dam or something too...

BTW, I think that Assteck thing looks like a dust-buster w/o wheels....

Almost tagged one about 10 feet long down here one night. Leaving the track in my new 2 ton Kodiak pulling the 38' trailer. I saw something in the road in the oncoming lanes, I was looking at it, btw it was about 1:30 in the morning, trying to figure out what the he!! it was. Then it got up and turned around about the time I got to it, scared the crap out of me. At least I didn't hit it, came close but no cigar.

Wow i thought hittin a deer up here did some damage and i cant imagion what would happen if you taged a 10ft gator

I know, I know. They are a love it or hate it vehicle. Most hate it. I like it because I have the only orange Rally Edition in the area. I've only seen another 2 or 3 times. There is kind of a cult following for them. There is a rally every year in Ohio. That is NOT mine with the 01 on the doors.

I have my business logos on mine now. Whenever somebody sees it somewhere they know "It's that Crossbones Motorsports guy".

Bad thing is you can't go anywhere without somebody seeing you.
