Tod74 07-13-2009 02:10 PM

Just about an hour and a half ago we drove past a clean looking 1970 el camino but it had those Gigantor freaking wheels on it. A couple weeks ago I saw a beautiful 69 Chevelle convertible but it had those monster wheels...just ruined the looks of it in MY opinion....and that's only my opinion. If you like them by all means, more power to ya.

TheYellaBrick 07-13-2009 05:30 PM

Is that called a Bink, or a Bonk, or a Blonk

Tod74 07-13-2009 05:37 PM

Actually...I believe it's "DONK" seriously.

MEMRACING62 07-13-2009 07:39 PM

tod, I have heard of car being called donks, what the hell does it mean?? :)

dragonmaster093 07-13-2009 08:06 PM

imo its short for donkey as you look like the north end of a south bound mangy mule imo they make everything look like crap

DONK:

Any POS late 70's or early 80's American heap (preferably an Impala) that has large enough wheels installed until it resembles (and rides and handles like) a Conestoga wagon. This is done so it sits up high enough so as to be at the same eye level as the Playas with real juice ridin in their Escalades. Adding in a bad candy paint job and Wal-Mart sub box completes the transformation.
With no money left over for necessary suspension and brake upgrades, the lifespan is limited to a few drug runs or the first Police chase, whichever occurs first.

dragonmaster093 07-13-2009 11:00 PM

MEMRACING62 07-14-2009 03:59 AM

    that definition belongs in the websters(dictionary)

Scooterz 07-14-2009 10:02 AM

That is really something... awful wheels... not even lowered, looks like 4wd with dumbazz written all over it!!! What a waste of a Chevelle. It would take 13,500 just to get it back to what it SHOULD look like. BTW: I believe that is a 1972 Chevelle...

oldandtired 07-14-2009 10:15 AM

I saw a car that had 1 foot tall numerals on the side that read "26". I was trying to figure out whose football number or Nascar number it was until my son said, 'that's the size of the rims".
They needed a reminder to tell you what rims they had??

Dave

markadams 07-14-2009 05:21 PM

He was being sarcastic , and besides the rear bumper it looks like it has 71-72 front fenders ...70's had a light on the lower front fender,71-72 DIDN'T. But then again there isn't a good view of the front fender.

CamBirdRacing 07-15-2009 11:13 AM

Yea, I was looking for the front end myself.

FullTimeRacing 07-15-2009 11:19 AM

If you look in the reflection of the window it is a white guy.

Tod74 07-15-2009 11:21 AM

Besides....who in the heck would change a 70 to look like a 72? usually it's the other way around, as most like the 70 better.

"You are buying what you see in the pictures" Well shoot, I see a camaro and a Mopar!!! Do we get all 3 cars?

signsbyesa 07-15-2009 06:21 PM

and my opinion too, those rims are terrible, make a car look like
a train car, and if you check out chip foose the first thing he draws
are huge rims, i have not ever seen him redue a car with traditional
tires, it realy ruins the look of the car, i have seen those tires
blow out and the tire flys off like a blower belt and the guy is
ridding on that huge rim, oh well :?

Those big rims are all the rage here in Memphis, impalas, crown vics, lincoln navigators, cutlass supremes you name it and they gotem on there.
Their motto is the bigger the better, kinda like the MR T gold chains of yeteryear.
Landon worked on a cutlass supreme with 24's, he ended up having to put 513 gears in to make it drive halfway decent....lol 8)

CamBirdRacing 07-16-2009 03:28 AM

Ya'll remember when they used to stick out of the fender by about 2'? Maybe they figure that this is a little bit easier on the wheel bearings.

I concur totally Signs. The thing is... Chip Foose at least lowers the cars, tubbs them, does killer body/paint, & the end result is a great custom such as a 67 Mustang FB that looks modernized. It may not be our cup of tea, but at least it looks good & is done well.

Then you have these 2 Chevelle dudes... what can be said about them??? THERE MUST BE A NEW LAW ENACTED THAT PROTECTS CHEVELLES FROM POTENTIAL MOLESTERS... "HB 64- 72" preventing the purchase or restoration of a 64 to 72 Chevelle 2dr to mentally unstable people who might pose a threat to the stability of the Chevelle image. Those who break this new law will be forced to drive a Toyota Prius for the rest of thier pathetic lives.

yup

newjack42 07-16-2009 03:42 PM

that would be a great day if that law could get passed

suicidebomb 07-16-2009 03:59 PM

A toyota prius, with great huge ridiculous looking wheels and tires with 1 inch sidewalls. And giant letters that say.........(insert your choice here)

MEMRACING62 07-16-2009 05:08 PM

the prius should come with a mandatory rope in the trunk to hang your self with because of the shame caused from driving it

dragonmaster093 07-16-2009 09:58 PM

not chevelle but another ruined classic
