Roller Rockers

I got the Comp pro magnums on mine, but thats not saying much since they have very few runs on them. I like them cause the trunions are so big, plus they're chromoly instead of aluminum. And they are not heavy at all.Real big axle at the valve tip, too. But the reason I went with them was the advice of the 2 "best" engine builders in town. One of them uses them on his low 5 second, naturally aspirated, small block, full interior+ cage, street tire Nova. The other uses them on everything customers allow him to.I figured if the hold up to that monster of a small block(406,i believe) they'll work for me! But, in all honesty, with what I spent for good rockers, good studs, stud girdles, poly locks, guide plates and extra tall valve covers...I could bought a nice Jesel shaft setup, for the same money, and had pick of the litter on any valve cover you like, not just the ones that will clear. Not to mention you don't have to mess with the girdles to set your valves. But then again, you might not even need girdles on what your building.

I like Crower, in fact last yr. i bought a set of 1.5 stainless on ebay for $110.00, they are like brand new.
Zip. |
Is there any real strength difference between the stainless and chromoly,or is it just a weight thing?
|
I have a set of Crower 1.7 rockers on my 540 and I have 2 seasons on them and they have held up well.

If your running 240lb spring pressure or less, Harland Sharps seem to a good fit and usually a little cheaper$. More than 240 lb spring pressure Id run the Crowers.

Again if i wanted to buy rockers i would look to ebay, you may have to wait a while but they will come available. Here's a good example, 2 weeks ago i bought a set of PSI valve springs dyno time only, for $56.00 plus shipping and handling total $76.00, they checked out perfect on a spring tester. Just 3 hrs. ago i bought another set of PSI extreme duty springs from the same person for $31.00, total $43.00 shipped, these are least $600.00 springs. Dyno time only 3 pulls. http://img26.picoodle.com/data/img26...7m_bf367ba.jpg PSI Roller Cam Valve Springs 1541ML Maxi-Life 1.510" 1 $31.00 Subtotal: $31.00 Shipping and handling via Other (see description): $10.00 Shipping insurance(required): $2.00 Total: $43.00 Do you home work and you can live cheaper and run faster.
