found this on melling select pumps , according to this they still use billet gears , just an observation,,,,Paul

Melling "M Select" Performance Oil Pump w/Extended Shafts
The drive and idler shafts have been extended to allow for additional support into the cover. This eliminates dynamic shaft deflection at increased rpm levels. The cover is doweled to the pump housing to assure alignment of shaft bores. The housing and cover are CNC machined and manganese phosphate coated for wear and rust protection. The gears are billet steel. The relief valve features a screw-in plug for easy spring change. Includes intermediate pump shaft. "C" = anti-cavitation, designed for high rpm.

This is a copy off the Melling site:

10552
High volume performance oil pump.
10% increase in volume over stock oil pump.
The 10552 is manufactured with the drive and idler shafts extended to allow for additional support in the cover eliminating dynamic shaft deflection at increased RPM levels.
The cover is doweled to the pump housing to assure alignment of the shaft bores.
Screw in plug retains relief valve spring instead of pin.
Relief hole in cover uses screw in plug instead of pressed cup plug.
All bolts are self locking socket heads, with the wrench supplied.
The housing and cover are CNC machined and phosphate coated.
Includes intermediate shaft with steel guide. Uses both 3/4” bolt on or press in screen.
The lower pressure spring is included to reduce pressure if desired.
Patent No. 5,810,571.

There is nothing mentioned about Billet Gears. Here is a link to their site:

Par racing says they use just a $45.00 simple regular volume and pressure pump. Not sure why, possibly they run their bearing tolerances tight.

Any luck with buying a cvr pump yet?

SBC oil pumps

I haven't.
The 1st ones to get them will be Competition Products. Might check with them to see if they know when.

I have a CVR iron pump. Got it just over a year ago. Last one they had, aluminum pumps were on back order then and still are last I checked.

I've got one of these PN 22171 Moroso billet pumps in my new SBC stroker. It's the first billet pump I've had.
