being my motor is a 509 10.8 solid roller will this play a major difference even with the quieter mufflers. more concerned with startup and normal takeoff sound levels to i get out of my neighbor hood.

Push it down the block a ways before you fire it up ! :P :P :D
I did that when I was in High School to 'sneak' out of the house to go 'driving' on the weekends.

I tried that trick and still got caught. I even tried to push the car back in the driveway. I guess it doesnt help having Squeeky springs either does it??

Yeah, it's the head and cam design on that motor, more than the mufflers.

If you fire that thing up open headered, it sounds like a beast.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY PROS OR NEGATIVES WITH THE PYPES PRO RACE MUFFLERS OR ANY OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS. THANKS FRANK

Compression also has a great deal to do with that 'sharp' exhaust sound.

got back from chassis dyno from this guys shop...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FdF0wgTikM

looks like my homemade jobbers made best of 625 hp@7000 rpms.best open headers run was 650@7000. thats on roughly a 800 hp 572.

on a 260 hit of nitrous it made 854@7000 thru mufflers with air fuel ratio ranging from 10 to 10.5 to 1

i realize i need to relieve pressure and not to dead head regulators even though my pump has a return right off it to fuel cell. when fuel pump is on with 6 pounds flowing fuel, not flowing its like 12 pounds thus telling with the rich condition on spray it wants a return line.......

final answer, 3% power loss with home made mufflers...not bad for 3" id 4" od bullet mufflers with half inch holes swiss cheesed in the 3" pipe.

spoke to my fabricator and says between the 4 link bracing and all the other bracing there is no way but before the rearend and turning to the outside before the rear tire is also history. still hoping to get the x pipe atleast. guess i will have to experiment with different mufflers and only weld the correct ones.

I am not sure what type of car you have, but I had a 4 link car with exhaust out the rear. You just have to take your time and get creative....
