Wow...all I can say... Kudo's to the real dads of the world !

Gents: Thanks. We talk a lot about cars, racing, tragedy, disease, none of us are getting any younger... life's circumstances happen. My dad is seasoned in these areas & is a cancer survivor. He really values our time together & my personal families time too. I appreciate his generosity... because as some of you mention the monetary value is really not important to him. I love the stories & the memories about family camping in this thread!! I don't know the towing capacity (have not looked yet); but she otta be able to pull the Chevelle on a decent trailer assume. I need to GET OVER my frustration of posting pics on here!! It is my lack of figuring it out.

Scooter all you have to do is set up a photobucket account. You actually download the pics there then you use the link from there to post the pics on a web site.

I too had a windfall a couple weeks ago. My neice had a 1998 Lexus with a good bit of miles on it. She bought a new ford SUV, didn't want the Lexus anymore. The bad was the front suspension was totally worn out, and i mean wore out, it was wearing tires out in 3,000 miles on the front. she was going to junk it. I said please don't, so she gave it to me for free. We did a doner give no taxes to me for the state. I know Outlaw it's a nippo car, but it get's 30 mpg, VS my duelly that get's 10.5 mpg, $46.50 and the 2 yr lic and title it's mine. Little did i know how hard it was to rebuild the front end on one of these cars. bought a complete rebuild kit on line for $162.43, minus struts. I have so many cars in my shop i had to do it on the aporn by one door. I know that most of you are not 73 yrs. old and doing that is tough. I did the drivers side on sunday afternoon, it was only 95 degrees heat index 104, i was so wore out and sore from working on the ground, i took 2 days off and did the passengers side on wensday again 95 plus degrees. The new tires came today, and i had them installed a balanced and it drives like new. I would recommend you don't do this at home if you can afford to have someone do it for you. I think i have one or two fingers that's not cut and a couple knucles that not that doesn't have scabs on them. but in the end it's all good, and really appreciate the gift. I'll drive it until it dies and save ton's of gas money.
It's all about family, which i appreciate mine very much.

We're hittin' triple digits here in the west, also. I've had heat stroke and hypothermia so being AWARE of how I'm feeling is a top priority.

Ken, I own a Honda Accord wagon as a service rig, but I PAID for mine so you can scold me twice ! :D :D

zipper06 07-20-2012 06:36 PM

I hear what you're saying outlaw and DD, but we've been 95* plus with heat index over 103 for weeks. I needed to get this done. I did only work maybe 15 min and set down for 5 or 10 min., drank lot's of ice tea. It took over 3 hrs. for the drivers side (learning courve) the passenger side took less than 2 hrs. the tough part was working on the ground with a creeper, getting down was easy but getting up was hard so many times. If i had a rack it would have been considerably easier, but the good thing is i won't be doing it again, now i only have to fix a valve cover leak and i'm done with it.
Outlaw you know i'm a Green Mountian boy (a stones throw from were you are) me and my sister come over there every couple yrs. to cleanup and put flowers on our many relatives from Owens-X-Roads. I will PM you if we come this yr. and if you'll let me pull in your driveway with a Nippo car i'll stop by and say hey.

Hey Zip- I am impressed buddy. You do motors well, understand power, aspiration, R & R, race, so many things... then you go and rebuild a Lexus front end for less than 200.00 bucks... man you are my HERO!!!! I hope that car treats you well & you put many more miles on it. It is better for your back anyways for point A to point B traveling. Well done.
