NEVER SEEN ONE BELOW 3.08 IN 3/4 TRUCK . UP NORTH HERE WE HAVE A LOT OF POSI'S IN 2WD PICK UPS (SNOW SUCKS)!! : :P
|
did you say you was going to put this rearend in a 1/2 ton truck :?:
whats the purpose? lower gear ratio?? would be cheaper to change ratio in one thats in there not to mention the weight you are going to add to your truck,,HEY , you could run dual slicks  |
im not puttin the bed or nothin and ya i have wanted 410s so this works out good and the extra wieght might help some with traction cause right now i havent hooked up off the line since my first race
|
I think the weight will hurt you more than help you , you need to transfer the weight that you already have instead of adding more unsprung weight.. this is my opion , now . (probally not everybodys,) my car weighs 1440 lbs if I add 200lbs to it , it will slow down, without a dought!
that 1 ton rear end is one heavy ass piece..you could probally sell it for enough to buy gears and axles for the one already in your truck , which is probally a 12 bolt..just food for thought , you might ask a few of the others on here what they think :D |
I did a few of those rear end swaps like your stating. Its a good deal to do. That is a corparate 10 bolt 30 slpine in the 1/2 ton 6 lugs. What we did was got a 3/4 rear with 6 lugs, (dont have to change rims) 9 1/2 ring gear semi-float axle. That being a 1 ton is most likly a corp 14 bolt w/ full float axles. Make sure that you measure the spring perches, might have to relocate them.

alright thanks cause im proly swappin this week
|
 good luck with all that,,,,are you going to run 8 lug wheels on a drag truck??
|
ok well thats reassuring that other poeple have done it with good outcomes but what is full float mean lol
|
INNER BEARING OUTTER BEARING, RIDE ON RACES IN A HUB AND HAVE AN AXLE NUT TO SECURE IT TO HOUSING END, DRIVE AXLE IS BOLTED TO THE HUB, NO C-CLIPS.

I give up  , you said truck will not hook up , if you go to a lower gear ratio it will spin easier ...I ve heard of people jumping off a cliff and were pleased with the outcome , but I don't think my idea of pleased is the same as theirs , I don't think you will be pleased with this outcome either , but that is your decision , I just hope you don't go through all that trouble and regret it..as I said earlier , you could probally sell that big , heavy ass 1 ton rear end for enough to build a good lighter 1/2 ton rear. But you seem to have your mind made up ,,,once again , GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. and i will shut up on the subject ,seems you only hear what you want to hear. :D HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU :D
