my 454 ls6 crtae engine has never been apart and I bought it in 1991.still running strong.my paper work says the crank is 1053 steel and the rods are 4340 steel shot peened.The ls7 454 had the same crank and rods but with 12.25:1 pistons.Ls6 has 11.0:1.
