Maybe you would be better off here to name your budget and your expetations so we can see if anyone here coulld help you. I have been known to work cheap but not that cheap.

I am thinking they must have a bunch of old Chevy Blocks and Heads to use. Cast Chevy head on a 427 makes no sense to me. Actually a 427 is not making much sense with 11.50-1 compression and claming it can can have timing reduced and drive it on the street. Not going to happen.

I am currently doing two completely different SB Strokers. One is a tried and proven combination for me of a 418 - 423 cu in version and the other is a 422 cu in version. Both are using alum heads and roller cams with Eagle Rods, BRC Pistons, Total Seal Rings, Canfield Alum heads and one should be a 530 hp at 10.30- 1 compression to burn 89 octane gas. Tried and proven. The other is 11.00-1 compresion using 92 octane gas with est 560 to 570 hp with .600 lift roller and that is also tried and proven.

I ahve done economical 383 but never an engine that I can sell for under 3,500 .

Maybe it is a good deal.Who knows.

I dont know either. He has good feedback and i contacted a couple of his customers who says good things. The heads are aluminum Pro Comps. Dont matter now any way since the motor is sold.

I guess my budget is about $4500 for right now. And i have to have 500HP w/ forged gear since i want to run a 200 shot of NOS. I think i will get a better deal if i go used rather than a brand new motor. There are all types of reasons why people sell their motors while they are still good.

I will just keep looking.

I sell the heads for $650.00/$750.00 depending on what springs you want. So you could build that motor for what he was asking for it, but i too now doubt the HP.

Looks ok, but you got a guy that just offered up a sweet 427 and I will tell you Vince is one guy I know will sell you exactly what he says it is. 8)
Lot's of these guys use friendly dyno's to up thier numbers.
No cheap junk, etc and Vince has the credentials on the track, both himself, sons and other family members. They rock stick shift's!!!

Not saying don't buy that ebay engine, just talk to Vince first, you will not be disapointed.

Thanks for the plug. I do not come here soliciting business. Of course I do appreciate it when I am referred or asked but I really do my best to not toot my own horn until after someone is my customer. I can build him something decent though in the price range he is now looking at. I could also build something a little lower for a little less money too. That 427 another memebris selling looks like the best bang for the buck though.

I have no way to know, but AI am guessing that he is guessing about his horsepower and is basing that off of what an engine builder told him he would have if they bought a complete engine from them. Looks to me that he took their guess and becuase he is making everything on top to be bigger is maybe making his own guess. I am also guessing:). Maybe both are real numbers.

He said he did that engine for a truck. He is lucky he did not install it. That engine in a heavy truck would have been a dog. In a lighter vehicle it might be nice.

One of the other members is showing a Racing Junk ad where he is selling a tried and proven 427 cu in engine. Trust me, for what all it has that is cheap. That is a real deal if you can do it. That one is ready and rearing to go now. He has also been highly

The only thing i dont understand is you are saying its a 427, but on the pinks episode it says you raced a 357 on alky with AFR heads ect.

If you can swing the deal, it looks good to me. That other one also doesn't look bad but I'll bet the horsepower is not what they think it is. Hopefully you would stick it in a lighter vehicle.

Or I or maybe toehr builders here can work with you some on a lay-awake deal. I have no problems in using good used heads intakes etc, if the customer is on a tight budget.

That 427 is a swinging deal and it looks like the builder/seller is also highly recommended.
